Great bike trailer!, March 2, 2011
This review is from: Burley Encore Bike Trailer (Sports)

I bought this trailer after comparing it to the d’lite, chariot cabriolet and the croozer 525. The d’light was out of our price range, the chariot had plastic parts and expensive ad ons and I could not see a croozer(plus it weighed 33lbs) in person. So that left the Burley encore. I was able to compare both the d’lite and the encore in person and both had nice solid bench type padded seats and nice five point harnesses with solid buckles instead of d clips. They each had sun shades and zip up weather covers as well. The seats are almost the same size but the d’lite bows out for more elbow room. After comparing the two we decided the d’lite although nice was not worth the extra cost. The basic features we wanted were all in the Encore including a solid padded seat, padded harness, sun shade and the zip up weather cover for less money. It was easy to set up and I only had to install the wheel guards. Attaching the hitch was simple too. I have a 3.5 year old and a 10 month old and they both fit comfortably in this trailer. I did a test run with the trailer kid less and it pulled and turned well. I could not even feel it behind the bike! Then I put the kids in and could not feel them in there either! Amazing! Very light and easy to pull, tracks well. We’re loving it so far and have used it on windy cold rainy days. The kids stay warm and dry. Highly recommend!

Following back-to-back babies (16 mths apart) and moving from Canada to USA in between the two, we’ve been behind on simple exercise. The Burley Encore has resolved a simple requirement: take the whole family to take fresh air, while exercising and discovering.

BURELY ENCORE: Easy to assemble, easy to connect, and effortless. When I first tried it (w/o kids), I easily forgot it was there. Not sure if fact, but the addition of the trailer brings more stability to riding slow; I can do a sharp turn at low speed with no problem. Today, we hauled both kids and bought about 40lbs of bird food and stuff for the BBQ. No problem!

If you have two bikes, get the second hitch. Also, think of the axle; it may not be long enough (we had to get one changed on my wife’s bike) = approx. $35.

Looked at numerous other models; this one fit just right. Price is decent ($100 less on Amazon).

Some friends tried my bike (quick short ride) and had same reaction.

Very light, very nice ride, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Burley Encore Bike Trailer (Sports)

After doing an extensive research on bike trailers (price/quality) I got the Burley Encore.

cons:I was a little frustated at first ’cause it was very hard to fold/unfold (my husband had to do it the first few times ’cause I just couldn’t). It got looser so now I can do it.

pros: After getting use to putting it on and off the bike (takes practice) it has been fantastic. I’ve been using it for 7 months with my 38 lbs 5 year old and my 22 lbs 20 months old (about 90lbs all together with the trailer weight), and it is great to trail, both on the street and flat trails, turns, uphill and downhill is good, even with rain. The legs’ room is still nice for my 107cm boy. They both seem comfortable inside, with enough room for them, and a lot of room on the back for stuff. It is also very nice with a single child in the middle.

It is much cheaper all together compared to the chariot ones (they are very good, but too expensive unless you use them very often).

I got it with the stroller wheel (the single one that is attached to the axle — which doesn’t vibrate or anything while riding as long as you use it right), so it is great to take the kids to the grocery store, turn the wheel down in the store, pack the trailer and back without using a car! It works nice as a stroller too, and it has fit through all the doors I’ve tried, though it is quite large for an stroller-only use.

    I really recommend this trailer.
